Position Highlights • Located at BJWC in Medical Building 4 • Monday - Friday • 7:30am to 4:00pm • NO Holidays NO Call NO Weekends • Benefits eligible first day of month after start • 401K with match We are seeking a compassionate and detail orientated Registered Nurse to join our team. You will play a key role in assessing pain levels, administering medications and treatments, and educating patients and families on pain management strategies. Overview Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital offers highly specialized surgical and medical services in an intimate environment and is known for outstanding patient care. With 64 private patient rooms, 14 operating rooms and four intensive care unit rooms, the facility was designed to provide a comforting environment that is innovative, efficient and centered on the patient experience. The campus features a park-like setting with landscaping and a walking path that winds through the grounds and connects to Millennium Park. The Pain Management Center at Barnes Jewish West County provides patients experiencing chronic pain with the best experience possible in all aspects of care including office visits, procedures and pharmaceutical management. When visiting the pain management center, patients are seen by RN's specializing in pain management for all of their educational needs, additional support is available between appointments by telephone triage RN's. Use of an electronic medical record allows staff to have a comprehensive understanding of each patient, patients to have access to their medical records from home, and prescriptions and other communication to be sent instantaneously to other members of the healthcare team. Preferred Qualifications Role Purpose Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of the standards of nursing care. Responsibilities • Promotes patient and family centered care in a healing environment. Educates patients and their families on how to manage their illness or injury, including post treatment home care needs and medication administration. • Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance. Participates in professional development. • Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with other members of the interprofessional team and patient, family or caregiver in accordance with the established guidelines and standards of nursing care. Proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care. • Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care. Assess patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including their values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs. • BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.
