Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited program for Registered Nursing.
Certification/Licenses: Current RN license in New Mexico or a current Compact state license is required. BLS Certification is required within 2 weeks of hire date. All other necessary certifications must be acquired within 6 months of hire date. Nurses who possess the required certifications at the time of hire must maintain these certifications without a grace period for renewal.
Skills:
• Current knowledge and competencies appropriate to the specific age/type of patient population served.
• Understanding and sensitivity to patients' rights in the care delivery process.
• Effective communication skills that are clear and concise, tailored to the developmental age of the patient.
Experience:
Nature of Supervision:
- Reports to: Patient Care Director or Manager
Environment:
• Exposure to Bloodborne pathogens (C or B depending on the Patient Care area); exposure to infectious diseases and x-rays.
Work in a clean, well-lit, well-ventilated, smoke-free environment. Flexibility in working hours is essential due to unexpected scheduling changes and emergencies.
Physical Requirements: Must be capable of responding effectively to emergency situations, requiring prolonged standing and walking. Heavy physical effort may be necessary for positioning, pushing, and transferring patients or equipment. Tasks may include extensive reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching. Ability to judge distances and space relationships, see peripherally, distinguish different colors, and possess hearing and visual acuity within normal or correctable limits. Manual dexterity and fine motor coordination are also required.
