Position Details:
• Primary Location: 24 Newton Street, Southborough, Massachusetts, 01772
• Secondary Location: 5 Neponset Street, Worcester, MA, 01606
• Department: Infusion Services
• Schedule: Part time, 32 hours/weekly, Monday through Friday, hours either 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM or 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
In this role, you will be pivotal in the delivery and management of direct patient care using the nursing process while adhering to the highest standards of practice. You will oversee and direct care for patients with Hematologic and Oncologic conditions, as well as those with non-oncology diagnoses, in an outpatient setting, while collaborating with providers and team members.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Clinical:
• Deliver direct patient care, evaluate outcomes, consult with specialists as needed, and adjust care processes to optimize patient outcomes.
• Possess a strong understanding of the management principles related to cancer care, chemotherapy, and biotherapy.
• Perform comprehensive assessments of all patients, addressing psychosocial, spiritual, emotional, and educational needs.
• Manage pain effectively and provide ongoing education to patients and caregivers on pain management strategies.
• Prioritize care plans as needed based on evolving patient assessments using evidence-based clinical knowledge.
• Exhibit thorough knowledge of antineoplastic therapies and their effects.
• Ensure safe medication administration practices and demonstrate the ability to calculate proper drug dosages.
• Show proficiency in IV therapy and the care of central lines.
• Adhere to regulations for the handling, administration, and disposal of antineoplastic agents while educating patients post-therapy.
• Demonstrate a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedure competencies.
• Identify and address emergency situations with appropriate nursing orders.
• Assess patient and family learning needs and adapt educational approaches to enhance understanding.
• Handle telephone triage efficiently to evaluate patient needs and determine interventions.
• Develop comprehensive discharge plans that include treatment schedules and community agency coordination.
• Quality and Safety:
• Adhere to established safety and quality control measures throughout patient care processes.
• Comply with departmental policies, procedures, and regulatory agency requirements.
• Ensure proper use of patient care equipment and thorough documentation of care in the Electronic Medical Record.
• Expectations:
• Complete all organizational and department-specific nursing education and competencies.
• Participate in ongoing professional development through education programs and seminars.
• Attend required meetings and staff conferences.
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance.

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current RN license in the State of Massachusetts.
• Current CPR/BLS Certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
• National Oncology Certification or willingness to attain.
• Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification.
• 1+ years of infusion/IV experience.
• Experience with phone triage and EMR systems (EPIC).
• Strong IV and phlebotomy skills.
Pay is competitive and based on various factors including local labor markets, experience, and certifications. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, incentives, and a supportive work environment. The hourly pay for this role ranges from $34.23 to $61.15 based on full-time employment factors.
