PCU/Stepdown Nurse (RN) | Denver, Colorado in Denver, CO

Deliver specialized nursing care in a fast-paced Progressive Care Unit (PCU) focused on cardiac patients, located on the 10th floor of a leading medical center near Denver, Colorado. This contract role offers the opportunity to work alongside a skilled multidisciplinary team dedicated to high-acuity cardiac care within a center of excellence. The unit maintains patient ratios of 1:4 and utilizes advanced equipment including telemetry, transport monitors, feeding pumps, and respiratory support devices such as BiPAP and heated high flow systems. Key Responsibilities: • Provide direct patient care to cardiac step-down patients, managing complex clinical conditions. • Administer and monitor intravenous drips including heparin, diltiazem, amiodarone, nitro, Lasix, and ketamine. • Perform cardiac procedures such as chest tube placement and removal, pacer wire removal, and 12-lead EKGs. • Collaborate effectively with charge nurses, patient care technicians, and other interdisciplinary team members. • Utilize Meditech electronic medical records for accurate documentation and coordination of care. Qualifications & Experience: • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure with current credentials. • ACLS certification required. • Prior PCU experience with strong cardiac care knowledge is essential. • Proven ability to manage drips and advanced cardiac monitoring. • Strong team player with high energy and adaptability in a high-acuity setting.
