
PCU/Stepdown Nurse (RN) | Hurricane, West Virginia in Culloden, WV
Job Description
This opportunity offers a rewarding nursing role on a step-down unit where advanced clinical skills are utilized daily to monitor and care for patients with complex health conditions. You will work with a dedicated team managing a variety of cases including pulmonary, cardiac, neurological, gastrointestinal, and postsurgical patients who require close observation and rapid intervention when necessary.
Responsibilities include assessing and monitoring patient conditions, administering critical drips such as Amiodarone, Esmolol, Insulin, Lasix, Cardizem, and Nitroglycerin, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality care. The unit maintains a patient ratio that encourages personalized attention, with 4:1 preferred and up to 5:1 as staffing allows.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
• Active RN license with at least 1 year of recent step-down or telemetry nursing experience
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Strong clinical judgment and ability to manage complex patient scenarios
• Experience with pulmonary, cardiac, neuro, GI, and surgical populations preferred
• Competency in administering critical care drips and monitoring invasive and non-invasive devices
Schedule/Hours:
• Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
