Registered Nurse - Pediatric Psychiatric Care (Contract) Location: Liberty, MO This opportunity offers a rewarding role in a pediatric psychiatric hospital specializing in acute in-patient behavioral health. The position involves providing skilled nursing care in a magnet-designated facility with 46 staffed beds, focused on children and adolescents requiring specialized psychiatric treatment. Key Responsibilities: • Provide nursing care supporting medication administration and unit supervision across 8-12 patients per shift. • Collaborate closely with Behavioral Health Technicians who provide 1:1 to 1:4 patient observation based on medical orders. • Administer various medication delivery methods including PO, IM, IV, and others; monitor patient status and lab results. • Engage in therapeutic interventions such as crisis intervention, behavior management, de-escalation techniques, and psychoeducation. • Follow seclusion and physical hold protocols as needed in accordance with legal and facility guidelines. • Maintain certifications including BLS, MANDT patient restraint, Trauma Informed Care, and Zero Suicide training. Qualifications and Experience: • Minimum 2 years RN experience with pediatric patient ratios of 1:12. • Comfort and experience with psychiatric care, including handling complex disorders such as anxiety, bipolar, eating disorders, PTSD, schizophrenia-spectrum, self-injury, and substance use. • Ability to manage emergent situations including cardiac arrest and chemical restraints. • Current Missouri RN licensure and compliance with Missouri Children’s Division background checks. • Willingness to work weekend night shifts regularly as required. Schedule & Type: • Three 12-hour day shifts per every 13-week period (07:00–19:30). • Contract position with guaranteed hours.
