Pediatrics Registered Nurse - Edison, New Jersey in Edison, NJ

A specialized nursing opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse with pediatric expertise, focused on hematology and oncology care. This contract position offers the chance to provide critical inpatient and outpatient care to a diverse pediatric population, including children with various cancers and sickle cell disease. The role requires skill in administering and monitoring chemotherapy, managing central lines and A-lines, and delivering comprehensive wound care. Key Responsibilities: • Provide nursing care to pediatric hematology/oncology patients, including administration of chemotherapy. • Conduct patient assessments and monitor vital signs using PEWs (Pediatric Early Warning System). • Manage complex vascular access devices such as PICC lines and central lines. • Administer phlebotomy and wound care treatments. • Float among Pediatrics, Adolescent units, and PICU Stepdown as needed. • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes. • Adhere to hospital protocols and safety standards, ensuring high-quality care delivery. Qualifications and Experience: • Current RN license with pediatric nursing experience. • Minimum of 2 years' experience in hematology/oncology preferred. • Certification in APHON (Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses) is highly desirable. • BLS (Basic Life Support) and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) required. • Familiarity with EPIC electronic health records system. • First-time hematology/oncology nurses are welcomed. • Experience with bone marrow transplant (BMT) patients is a plus. Shift Details: • Night shift, 3 twelve-hour shifts per week (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM). • Every other weekend and holiday coverage required. • No block scheduling.
