Pediatrics Registered Nurse - Independence, Missouri in Independence, MO

This opportunity is designed for registered nurses with a pediatric focus who are interested in working within a specialized acute in-patient behavioral health setting. The role requires working on a contract basis at a pediatric psychiatric hospital, caring for children and adolescents facing a variety of complex psychiatric conditions. Key Qualifications & Experience: • Minimum of 2 years as a Registered Nurse with pediatric experience • Experience managing patient ratios of 1:12 during days, nights, and weekends • Certified in BLS (Basic Life Support) • Patient restraint certification (MANDT) will be provided if not currently held • Completion of Trauma-Informed Care and Zero Suicide trainings, available on-site • Ability to comply with Missouri Childrens Division background check and MO Vechs state background check process • Preferred skills include familiarity with anxiety, bipolar, depressive, and psychotic disorders, as well as crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques Responsibilities: • Manage medication administration and monitor patient vital signs within a locked pediatric psych unit • Collaborate with behavioral health technicians and multidisciplinary team members to support patients therapeutic needs • Support treatment of children with a wide spectrum of psychiatric disorders and behavioral challenges • Participate in maintaining a safe environment through adherence to legal and clinical protocols for seclusion, restraint, and emergency interventions Schedule: • 12-hour day shifts from 07:00 to 19:30 • Weekend night shift required (rotating Friday or Sunday nights) • 3 shifts guaranteed per 13-week contract period Location Insight: Independence, Missouri, offers a welcoming community with access to urban amenities and healthcare resources.
