St. Vincent's Behavioral Health Center is a 76-bed inpatient psychiatric facility that provides specialized care to children, adolescents, and adults facing mental health challenges and dual diagnosis substance use disorders. As part of the Hartford HealthCare network, we are a leading provider of mental health services across several locations in Connecticut.
Job Summary:
• Deliver exceptional direct patient care to behavioral health patients in line with our facility's policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
• Conduct initial and ongoing bio-psychosocial assessments, adhering to nursing practice standards, while developing a comprehensive nursing plan of care in accordance with the master treatment plan.
• Engage in treatment team conferences to collaboratively plan and adjust goals, objectives, and interventions tailored to the specific needs of each patient.
• Implement nursing care plans for assigned patients and facilitate or co-lead group therapy sessions.
• Evaluate patient responses to interventions and adapt care plans as necessary, collaborating with the treatment team for ongoing patient progress.
• Perform thorough assessments to identify the diverse physical, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and age-related needs of patients, ensuring individualized care.
• Create and document nursing care plans in partnership with patients and their families, addressing their comprehensive needs for holistic care.
• Administer direct patient care per physician orders and established protocols, maintaining accurate documentation of care provided.
• Recognize and respond to changes in patients' physical and psychosocial status, adjusting care plans as needed.
• Delegate aspects of patient care to other nursing staff appropriately based on their qualifications and skills to optimize patient outcomes.
• Demonstrate expert knowledge and skills specific to behavioral health patients and contribute positively to interdisciplinary team efforts for optimal patient care.
• Embrace additional duties as assigned.
• Uphold the responsibilities outlined by the ANA Scope and Standards of Nursing Practice, the ANA Code of Ethics, and the ANA Social Policy Statement.
Qualifications:
• Must be a licensed Registered Nurse from the Connecticut Department of Public Health prior to hire or transfer date.
• Certification as a BLS Provider from the AHA or American Red Cross is required within 60 days of hire or transfer.
• Associate's Degree is mandatory; a Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
• Preferred experience in an acute care psychiatric setting.
• Demonstrates leadership abilities and effective management of challenging patient situations, compliant with MOAB training guidelines.
