
Perioperative Orthopedic Nurse Circulator in Alpine, UT
Job Description
Position Summary: As a vital member of our surgical team, the OR Circulator Nurse delivers top-tier perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing orthopedic surgeries in an outpatient environment. We seek a proactive and meticulous nurse who excels at anticipating the needs of surgeons while prioritizing patient safety and enhancing team coordination for streamlined operations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients throughout their surgical experience, including preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases.
• Act as a patient advocate, ensuring their safety and comfort during the perioperative process.
• Carry out circulating duties during orthopedic procedures, adhering to strict safety protocols and maintaining sterility.
• Verify critical details including patient identity, surgical site, and consent prior to initiating procedures.
• Prepare and position patients while monitoring their status in collaboration with surgical and anesthesia teams.
• Ensure all necessary equipment, instruments, and implants are prepared, functional, and logged accurately.
• Work closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and scrub techs to promote efficient case flows and minimize turnover times.
• Document patient information accurately and promptly in the electronic health record (EHR).
• Follow all infection control protocols and comply with regulatory and accreditation standards.
• Engage in quality improvement initiatives and help develop best practices for the operating room.
• Support colleagues in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized OR environment.
Qualifications:
• Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
• Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Utah
• Certification: Current BLS required; ACLS preferred, CNOR certification beneficial
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of perioperative nursing experience required; orthopedic and ambulatory surgery experience highly preferred
• Skills: Excellent communication, teamwork, and critical thinking skills, particularly in fast-paced environments
