A pediatric intensive care nursing opportunity is available in Des Moines, IA, on a contract basis. This role involves care for critically-ill or injured infants, children, and teens within a 12-bed, all private-room Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) located on a leading hospital campus. The unit incorporates state-of-the-art design and family-centered amenities designed to support both patients and their families effectively. Key Responsibilities: • Provide high-quality nursing care to pediatric patients in critical condition. • Collaborate closely with pediatric critical care doctors and the pediatric transport team. • Monitor and manage complex medical equipment and treatments. • Support families through consultation and providing a compassionate care environment. • Float to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) as needed, primarily caring for newborns who require oxygen or antibiotics (not the most critical patients). Qualifications: • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure with pediatric intensive care experience. • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity critical care setting. • Comfort and flexibility with floating to the NICU. • Familiarity with electronic medical records, preferably EPIC. • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
