A nursing role is available for a Registered Nurse with Pediatric Intensive Care Unit experience (RN-PICU) in Edison, NJ. This contract position offers the opportunity to provide specialized care in a pediatric critical care setting, working primarily night shifts of 3x12 hours (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM).
Responsibilities/Duties:
• Deliver advanced nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients in ICU settings.
• Utilize proficiency in EPIC electronic medical records and manage complex interventions including CVP, CVVH, hemodynamic monitoring, and interpreting/managing EKG.
• Administer medications including insulin through pumps, vasopressors, and manage invasive lines such as NG tubes, central lines, PICCs, and arterial lines.
• Support procedural sedation and perform wound care and trauma management.
• Monitor respiratory support devices including HFNC, ETT, ventilators, and tracheostomies.
• Manage renal failure treatments including CRRT and peritoneal dialysis.
• Float between pediatric, adolescent, neonatal ICUs, and PHOC as needed.
• Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
Desired Qualifications:
• Minimum 1.5 years pediatric intensive care experience; first-time intensive care nurses accepted.
• Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications required; NIH certification preferred.
• Experience with ECMO and neurological monitoring devices such as EVD, VP shunt, and ICP monitoring is a plus.
• Comfort managing complex PICU patients and working 12-hour night shifts.
• Ability to work weekends and holidays on a rotating basis.
• Locally based candidates are preferred.
