An opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse with Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) expertise to provide critical care in a fast-paced environment. This role involves managing complex pediatric patient needs, requiring advanced skills and a commitment to delivering high-quality care. The position is a contract role based in Newark, NJ, offering a night shift schedule that allows for focused patient care during off-peak hours.

Schedule:
• Night Shift, 3 shifts per week
• 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
• Registered Nurse (RN) with at least 1.5 years of relevant experience
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS required; NIH preferred
• Comfort with patient populations ranging from neonates to adolescents
• Experience with EPIC electronic medical records system
• Skills in hemodynamic monitoring, EKG interpretation and management
• Proficient in IV therapies including managing ports, arterial lines, central lines, and PICC lines
• Competent in procedural sedation and administration of IV vasopressors
• Familiar with ventilator/tracheostomy management, ETT placement, and advanced respiratory support including HFNC
• Knowledge of renal support modalities such as CRRT, CVVH, peritoneal dialysis preferred
• Experience with wound care, trauma care, and critical care technologies such as ECMO and ICP monitoring is a plus
Responsibilities:
• Provide comprehensive, specialized nursing care for critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU
• Monitor and manage complex medical devices and treatments including ECMO, ventilators, dialysis, and neuro-monitoring devices
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement care plans
• Perform and document patient assessments, administer medications and treatments safely and effectively
• Float among pediatric, adolescent, neonatal, and specialty care units as required
