
Psychiatric Nurse (RN) - Westfield, Massachusetts in Russell, MA
Job Description
Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
This opportunity calls for an experienced Registered Nurse with expertise in adult and adolescent inpatient psychiatric care. Located in Westfield, MA, this full-time position involves working 40 hours per week in 8-hour shifts, including every other weekend and every other holiday. The role is contracted and requires a Massachusetts RN license at the time of application.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct and indirect nursing care within a safe therapeutic milieu based on core behavioral health principles.
• Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary treatment team to develop, implement, and document individualized patient treatment plans.
• Support patients psychiatric and substance use treatment goals with a trauma-informed, recovery-focused approach.
• Maintain professional boundaries while building therapeutic relationships with patients.
• Manage crisis situations calmly and effectively, employing de-escalation techniques.
• Float to similar or lower acuity units as needed and be prepared to take charge without additional multiplier compensation.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
• Current Massachusetts RN license required; BSN preferred.
• Minimum of one year experience in adult and adolescent inpatient psychiatric settings.
• CPR certification required.
• Familiarity with restraint reduction, de-escalation, and crisis intervention preferred.
• Strong critical thinking and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records.
• Ability to manage stress, work collaboratively, and deliver compassionate care.
