
Psychiatric Registered Nurse | Ballwin, Missouri in Ballwin, MO
Job Description
A contract opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse specializing in psychiatric care, focusing on adult and geriatric populations within an inpatient locked unit. This role requires expertise in medical-psychiatric nursing, substance use treatment, and comprehensive medication administration, including IV therapy and Foley catheter management.

Qualifications & Desired Experience
• Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) with psychiatric nursing experience
• Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience; new travelers welcome with clinical screening
• Current BLS and CPI certifications required
• Proficiency in administering medications (PO, IM, IV, SC, RECTAL) and clinical skills such as IV starts and blood glucose monitoring
• Experience with geriatric and adult psychiatric populations, including managing co-morbid medical conditions
• Familiarity with Epic charting system and working in a locked unit environment
• Ability to perform restraint application and participate in milieu presence
• Capable of functioning as charge nurse when necessary
Schedule & Hours
• Night shifts, 3x12 hours (19:00 07:30)
• Weekend requirement every other weekend
• Guaranteed minimum of 3 shifts per 13-week period
Responsibilities
• Provide direct nursing care for adult psychiatric patients, primarily geriatric, addressing complex medical-psychiatric conditions
• Facilitate pre-op preparation for procedures such as ECT
• Collaborate within the service line, floating as required across units caring for similar populations
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation using Epic
• Ensure patient safety through effective use of restraints and therapeutic milieu presence
• Perform charge nurse duties as assigned
