A specialized opportunity is available for an experienced Psychiatric Registered Nurse to support a 6-bed ICU unit focused on acute mental health care for children and adolescents. This contract position located in Biddeford, ME centers on delivering high-quality nursing care within a psychiatric intensive care setting. The role demands a calm, professional demeanor and strong skills in de-escalation techniques while working with patients experiencing thought disorders, psychosis, personality disorders, and manic episodes. Key Responsibilities: • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in a psychiatric ICU. • Utilize acute mental health expertise to manage complex behavioral and psychiatric symptoms. • Maintain patient safety while promoting therapeutic interventions. • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams. • Adhere to business casual dress code; avoid ripped jeans, shorts, logo tees, and open-toed shoes. Qualifications: • Active RN license with psychiatric nursing experience. • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in acute adult mental health nursing. • Demonstrated proficiency in de-escalation and crisis intervention. • Comfort working in a 3 PM to 3 AM shift with consistent weekend coverage. • Ability to float as needed within the clinical setting. Schedule & Hours: • 36 hours per week guaranteed. • Shifts primarily 3 PM to 3 AM. • Weekends required.
