Job Description
This opportunity offers a rewarding nursing role specializing in adult psychiatric and geriatric inpatient care within a renowned acute care hospital. This contract position requires dedication to providing compassionate care to patients with complex medical and psychiatric conditions in a locked unit setting. Work night shifts on a 3x12 schedule in a state-of-the-art facility known for its Magnet status, teaching hospital environment, and Level I trauma designation.

Qualifications and Desired Experience
• Active RN license with psychiatric nursing experience
• BLS and CPIS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year experience, including inpatient, locked unit, and medical/psych care
• Skilled in medication administration (PO, rectal, IM, IV, SC), IV starts/maintenance, blood glucose monitoring, and Foley catheter care
• Experience with geriatric patients and adults with co-morbid medical and psychiatric conditions such as dementia, bipolar disorder, depression, Parkinsons, and anxiety
• Proficient with Epic charting system
• Able to handle restraint applications and Milieu presence
• Open to floating within service line to meet unit staffing needs
Responsibilities
• Provide focused psychiatric nursing care to adults and geriatric patients in an inpatient locked unit
• Administer medications accurately and perform clinical procedures safely
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including participating as charge nurse as needed
• Support pre-op prep for ECT and manage patients requiring complex care approaches
• Maintain a safe environment and therapeutic milieu for patients
Schedule
• Night shifts, 3 shifts per 13 weeks (12-hour shifts, 7 PM to 7:30 AM)
• Every other weekend required
