A rewarding opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse specializing in Psychiatric care, providing essential support to patients with complex mental health conditions. This contract position is based in Gadsden, AL, serving an inpatient psychiatric unit that cares for adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients. You will manage a diverse patient population facing anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, psychosis, schizophrenia-spectrum disorders, substance use disorders, suicidal behavior, trauma, and stress-related issues. Experience working with personality disorders is highly valued.

Responsibilities:
• Deliver compassionate nursing care for patients with various psychiatric diagnoses.
• Implement seclusion protocols, crisis intervention, and de-escalation techniques safely and effectively.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure high-quality patient outcomes.
• Float among units and assume charge nurse responsibilities as required.
• Maintain a patient-to-nurse ratio of approximately 1:6 to ensure adequate care.
• Adhere to established clinical and safety standards while supporting patient recovery.

Qualifications:
• Current Registered Nurse licensure in Alabama.
• Up-to-date Basic Life Support (BLS) certification via the American Heart Association.
• Fit Test certification is required.
• Previous experience in psychiatric inpatient care, including knowledge of seclusion policies.
• NIH certification preferred but not mandatory.
• Ability to work a day shift schedule with 3 twelve-hour shifts (7:00 AM 7:00 PM) every other week (EOW).
