Psychiatric Registered Nurse | O Fallon, Missouri in Cottleville, MO
Job Description
This position offers an opportunity to provide compassionate care within a dynamic adult psychiatric and geriatric inpatient setting. The role focuses on supporting patients with various mental health disorders, including substance use and chemical dependency, in a locked unit environment requiring clinical expertise in medication administration and medical-surgical nursing interventions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver direct nursing care to adult psychiatric and geriatric patients on an inpatient locked unit
• Administer medications via multiple routes (PO, rectal, IM, IV, SC)
• Start and maintain IV therapy and monitor blood glucose levels
• Perform Foley catheter insertion and maintenance
• Participate in patient restraint application and provide presence in the milieu
• Provide pre-operative preparation for ECT treatments as needed
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members and float within the psychiatric service line as required
• Serve as charge nurse on occasion to ensure unit efficiency and patient safety
Qualifications and Experience:
• Active RN license with at least one year of psychiatric nursing experience required
• BLS and CPIS certifications mandatory
• Experience with adult psychiatric populations, including those with medical comorbidities such as dementia, depression, Parkinsons disease, bipolar disorder, and anxiety
• Familiarity with Epic electronic health records system
• First-time travel nurses are welcome and will be considered through clinical screening
• Ability to work 3x12-hour night shifts; weekend work every other weekend
Schedule:
• Night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Commitment to 36 or 48 hours per week with guaranteed hours of 3 shifts every 13 weeks
