A Registered Nurse (RN) with expertise in psychiatric care is sought for a contract position at a behavioral health hospital in South Portland, ME. This role provides critical nursing services within a 6-bed Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit, focusing on patients with acute adult mental health needs including thought disorders, psychotic episodes, personality disorders, and manic behaviors.

Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients in the Psychiatric ICU
• Utilize de-escalation techniques to manage challenging patient behaviors
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Maintain a calm and professional demeanor in a high-stress environment
• Adhere to the facility’s business casual dress code, avoiding casual and open-toed attire

Qualifications and Experience:
• Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in psychiatric nursing, particularly with acute adult mental health patients
• Strong de-escalation skills essential
• Ability to work day and evening shifts covering 36 hours per week with weekend hours included
• Float requirements may apply
• No on-call duties
