
Psychiatric Registered Nurse | Talladega, Alabama in Talladega, AL
Job Description
Provide specialized psychiatric nursing care in an inpatient setting, focusing on a diverse patient population including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. This contract position offers an opportunity to apply expertise in managing complex mental health conditions such as anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, psychotic disorders, schizophrenia-spectrum disorders, substance use, suicidal behavior, and trauma-related disorders. Experience with personality disorders is highly valued.
Responsibilities include administering patient care on a float basis with a night shift schedule every other week (EOW), with potential to serve as charge nurse as needed. Essential skills include proficiency in seclusion protocols, crisis intervention, and de-escalation techniques to ensure patient and staff safety.
Qualifications / Desired Experience:
• Active registered nurse license in Alabama
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
• Fit testing certification
• Preferred: National Institutes of Health (NIH) certification
• Experience in psychiatric nursing with a focus on inpatient behavioral health
• Familiarity with seclusion protocols and crisis management
• Ability to manage a patient ratio of approximately 1:6
Schedule / Hours:
• Night shifts, twelve hours, every other week
• Flexibility to float across units and provide charge duties as needed
