General Summary
Are you a compassionate nurse who wants to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people?
In this role, you will provide hands-on nursing care to juvenile residents at Children’s Village, supporting their health, safety, and overall well-being. You’ll conduct health assessments, monitor patient conditions, and report any changes or reactions to medications or treatments.
You’ll document observations in patient records, prepare residents for physical examinations, and assist with exams as needed. This position also involves responding to emergency situations and traveling between campus buildings.
What You’ll Do:
• Provide direct nursing care and health services to juvenile residents.• Conduct health assessments and monitor patients’ conditions.• Observe, document, and report changes or reactions to medications and treatments.• Prepare patients for physical examinations and assist with exams as needed.• Respond to emergency situations, including traveling between campus buildings.• Accurately document care and observations in patient records.• Utilize countywide and department-specific software to complete assignments and maintain compliance.

Required Minimum Qualifications
What You'll Need:
1. Be licensed by the Michigan Board of Nursing to practice as a registered professional nurse in the State of Michigan.
2. Possess a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university.
3. Have had at least two (2) years of full-time increasingly responsible public health, community nursing and/or correctional nursing work experience under professional nursing supervision.
NOTE: A Master's Degree in Nursing, Public Health, Public Administration or closely related field from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one (1) year of the public health nursing experience.
4. Possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s or chauffeur’s license.
NOTE: Applicants who are eligible to be licensed by the State of Michigan and who meet the other requirements listed above may take this examination but will not be eligible for appointment until they have been licensed by or possess a valid permit from the Michigan Board of Nursing.
Volunteer experience may be accepted provided it is equivalent in level and scope to the required experience.
NOTE: Current Children’s Village Registered Nurse positions have twenty-four (24) months to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree. Additional extension of time to earn the BSN degree can be given at the discretion of the Director of Health and Human Services.
Special Requirements
1. Must maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's or chauffeur's license. 2. Must submit to immunizations as required by the Health Division and to periodic tuberculin skin tests or chest X-rays at County expense. 3. Must maintain registration with the State of Michigan Board of Nursing. 4. Candidates for positions assigned to Children’s Village will be required to provide documentation from the Michigan Department of Human Services that they have not been named in a central registry case as the perpetrator of child abuse or child neglect. In addition, applicants being considered for hire will be asked to sign a form authorizing a criminal history check in accordance with the privacy act of 1974. Applicants for positions assigned at Children’s Village will not be considered if they have been convicted of either of the following: (a) Child Abuse or Neglect.(b) A felony involving harm or threatened harm to an individual within the 10 yearsimmediately preceding the date of hire.
Pay Range
USD $80,062.00 - USD $99,612.00 /Yr.
