JOB SUMMARY Registered Nurses 2 give professional nursing care and treatment in the Wayne County Juvenile Detention Facility. Registered Nurses evaluate health needs of juveniles and refer, as indicated by policy and procedure, to the appropriate health provider, demonstrate knowledge in advanced first aid and emergency care, and have knowledge in all policies and procedures pertaining to Medical and Psychiatric treatment of juveniles detained in the Wayne County Juvenile Detention Facility. Registered Nurses monitor and maintain the medical and mental health treatment of juveniles, maintain supplies and equipment and ensure the juveniles are in a clean and safe environment and perform other related duties as assigned. General assignments are received from the Charge Nurse or Nursing Administrator. Registered Nurses may supervise the work of Licensed Practical Nurses, Medical Assistants, or other auxiliary nursing service personnel. Required Tasks • Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records. • Administer medications to patients and monitor patients for reactions or side effects. • Record patients' medical information and vital signs. • Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients' conditions. • Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans. • Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions. • Monitor all aspects of patient care, including diet and physical activity. • Direct or supervise less-skilled nursing or healthcare personnel or supervise a particular unit. • Prepare patients for and assist with examinations or treatments. • Prepare rooms, sterile instruments, equipment, or supplies and ensure that stock of supplies is maintained. • Refer patients to specialized health resources or community agencies furnishing assistance. • Consult with institutions or associations regarding issues or concerns relevant to the practice and profession of nursing. • Assist with the orientation and training of new hires as requested by leadership. • Complete other duties as assigned within the scope of practice. • Specific types of tools utilized • Supervision or Managerial Responsibility • The Registered Nurse will not have any supervisory functions within this role. • Compliance and Standards • Administrative Duties • Communicating with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates • Coaching and Developing Others • Coordinating the Work and Activities of Others • Staff Planning-Organizational Development • Guiding, Directing, and Motivating Team Members • Monitor Processes, Materials, or Surroundings • Decision Making-Impact of Decisions on internal/external partners • Requires making decisions that impact the results of co-workers, clients or the company • Requires making decisions that affect other people, the financial resources, and/or the image and reputation of the organization • Mistakes are not easily correctable and have serious consequences • Opportunity to make decisions without supervision • Organizing, Planning, and Prioritizing Work • Developing Objectives and Strategies • Allocation of Resources-Planning Resources, Actions and Events • Data Sourcing Requirements • Communicating with External Networks • Management of Resources • Persuasion or Influencing Others • Personal Interaction • Requires work with others in a group or team • Requires work with external customers or the public • Requires coordinating or leading others in accomplishing work activities • Continual Learning-Updating and Using Relevant Knowledge Educational Requirements • A graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. • Possess a current Registered Nurse license to practice in the State of Michigan. • BLS/CPR Certification Experience Requirements • One year of full-time paid experience as a registered nurse within the past five (5) years in the following areas of medical/surgical, corrections, or behavioral health preferred. • One year of full-time paid experience as a Registered Nurse 1
