BrightStar Care is seeking a compassionate and professional Registered Nurse to provide temporary coverage as a school nurse for K–12 students. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working with children, supporting their health needs, and providing a safe and caring school environment.ResponsibilitiesProvide daily nursing care to K–12 students, including first aid for minor injuries (e.g., cuts, scrapes, bandages).Administer medications as prescribed, including seizure management for students with known conditions.Monitor and care for students who are ill or require medical attention during school hours.Maintain accurate health records and documentation for all students.Communicate with parents, teachers, and school staff regarding student health concerns as needed.Required SkillsEDUCATIONBachelor’s degree in Nursing (preferred)SKILLS/ABILITIESRegistered nurse with current unencumbered licensure to practice professional nursing in the state inwhich the care is being provided.Minimum of one (1) year of documented experienceExceptional nursing assessment skillsExcellent interpersonal skills.Analytic/Critical thinker.Excellent customer service skills and ability to deal tactfully with clients, staff, and community.Case management skills are a plusAbility to work on weekends, nights and holidaysReliable transportationUnderstanding of regulatory compliance, including state and Federal regulations including but not limited to OSHA and HIPAAWORKING CONDITIONS May be required to respond to emergency situations. Position includes tasks that have the potential for exposure to blood and other potentially infectious material (OPIM) such as body fluids/tissues.Personal Protective Equipment may include gloves, mask, eye/face protection, and disposable outer covering or lab coat.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Must be able to stand, walk, squat, bend, kneel, reach, twist, push and pull. Varied assistance is required depending on the ability of the client. Must be able to lift to 50 pounds. Visual and hearing acuity required.
