Job Summary:

As a Registered Nurse in our Behavioral Health unit, you will provide compassionate and direct patient care, adhering to established policies and procedures to support our patients’ mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct thorough admitting and shift assessments for assigned patients, focusing on their behaviors and well-being.
• Utilize your critical thinking and judgment to evaluate patient conditions and promptly communicate changes to the physician.
• Be an integral part of the interdisciplinary team by participating in the development and evaluation of comprehensive treatment plans.
• Document all nursing interventions diligently and maintain compliance with professional standards and policies.
• Effectively implement and log physician orders to ensure seamless patient care.
• Monitor and assess patient safety continuously and maintain a secure environment on the unit.
• Support and guide LPNs and nursing assistants in delivering high-quality care to our patients.
• Provide education to patients and their families based on their individual needs, ensuring proper documentation in the Electronic Health Record.
• Incorporate evidence-based practices into nursing care, tailoring approaches to meet the diverse needs of our patient population.
• Exhibit professional standards consistently, guided by the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses.
• Maintain a high level of alertness and commitment to safety in all tasks.
• Perform additional duties as required to support the unit's operations.

Education & Experience:
• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing or equivalent educational program.
• No prior experience is required; new graduates are encouraged to apply!

Physical Requirements:
• Ability to communicate effectively in person.
• Consistent standing and walking during shifts.
• Frequent lifting, pushing, and carrying objects up to 25 lbs, with occasional lifting of 25-50 lbs.
• Engagement in computer use for data entry and documentation.
• Capable of identifying various smells and distinguishing sounds for safety.
• Occasional driving may be required.

Licensure & Certifications:

Must possess:
• Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Registered Nurse (RN) licensure applicable to the state of practice (Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, or Wisconsin).

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36
