Shift: Varies, 6:15am - 8:30am + late call until 8:00pm 2 days per week
• Position may qualify for employee referral bonus. $10k sign on bonus with 3+ years experience as RN
Job Description:
PATIENT POPULATION:
The patient population served is all patients, including geriatric, adult, and adolescent. This also includes services which affect facility staff, physicians, visitors, vendors and the general public.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the department Leader(s), the Registered Nurse (R.N.) independently provides holistic, individualized care using the Nursing Process for patients routinely seen in the unit. Demonstrates an advanced level of clinical competency, Nursing judgment, teaching skills, and a commitment to improving the quality of patient care. Independently performs general and unit-specific clinical skills. Contributes to the Sierra View Medical Center Department of Patient Care Services and the Nursing profession in a positive manner.
Is responsible for the assessment, treatment or care appropriate to the ages of the patients served. Demonstrates the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of the patient’s needs. Possesses knowledge of growth and development and has an understanding of the range of treatment needed for all patient groups. May be assigned to work in other Imaging modalities. Must follow AIDET and accepts reassignments and additional duties, when necessary, in a flexible and positive manner. Must maintain an environment of cohesiveness and teamwork. Must maintain the department in compliance with rules and regulations set forth by governing agencies.
Must be able to work normal/scheduled working hours to include Holidays, call-backs, weeknights, weekends, and on-call. Agrees to participate, as directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled and unscheduled hours. As a designated disaster service worker you are required to assist in times of need pursuant to the California Emergency Services Act.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of California. Must have and maintain current BLS certification or obtain within orientation process, prior to hands-on patient care. Must have and maintain ACLS certification. certification or obtain within six (6) months of assignment to department. Must have I.V. Conscious Sedation Competency. Six (6) month time frame is at the discretion of the Department Director.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
• Indicates Essential Function
1 * Is responsible for the assessment, treatment and/or care appropriate to the ages of the patients served. Demonstrates the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of the patient’s needs. Possesses knowledge of growth and development and has an understanding of the range of treatment needed for all patient groups.
2 * Utilizes holistic assessment skills, recognizing subtle, covert or abnormal signs and symptoms that include at least one of the following: involvement of patient/significant other, discharge needs, psychosocial needs, biophysical needs, environmental needs, teaching needs.
3 * Identifies nursing diagnosis and interdependent nursing problems and selects applicable nursing care standards to guide patient care. Recognizes issues/concerns that could impact development of mutual goals.
4 * Ensures that the Care Plan is specific and unique to the individual patient utilizing Interdependent Nursing Standards and the discharge needs of complex/multi-system patients.
5 * According to established clinical policy, procedure and standards, the R.N. safely performs nursing care including safe administration of medication, troubleshoots equipment and demonstrates skill in clinical problem solving.
6 Ensures that the nursing care provided is consistent with the established Nursing Plan of Care, the Medical Plan of Care and the ages of the patients served.
7 * The effectiveness of the Plan of Care is evaluated and communicated through exchange report; recommendations are made for future care and are consistent with current documentation.
8* Communicates evaluation of, or changes in, patient status providing supportive data to the physician or health care team as appropriate.
9* Demonstrates adherence to the Joint Commission "National Patient Safety Goals for Hospitals" as defined by Scope of Practice.
10* Documentation reflects compliance with established Hospital policies and procedures.
11* Demonstrates knowledge of role by adherence to NPSGs as it relates to area of practice.
12 Demonstrates an understanding of the use, actions and interactions of drugs used in combination for patients with multi-system problems.
13* Evaluates teaching effectiveness based on patient response and revises teaching plan to accommodate patient/family comprehension.
14* Completes required unit specific performance criteria checklist.
15 Reviews/Revises/Implements interventions in the plan of care based on changing patient status, progess toward established goals, and discarge readiness needs.
16 Reports quality or Risk Management issues through appropriate lines of authority, i.e. administrative or clinical.
17 Maintains current knowledge of health care trends that affect the clinical practice of Nursing on the unit.
18 Demonstrates standards of documentation as evidenced by individual chart review and no letters of education in file.
19 Upholds all aspects of the Nursing Practice Act as defined by the California Board of Registered Nursing.
20 Provides evidence of adherence to all ANA Code of Ethics for the Nursing profession.
Position Specifics :
1* On the shift assigned, performs the role of Cardiac Cath Lab/Interventional/Radiology Unit R.N. according to the policies and procedures of Sierra View Medical Center (SVMC).
2 Maintains certification by the American Heart Association in Advanced Cardiac Life Support/Pediatric Advanced Life Support (IR Only)/Basic Life Support.
3 Successfully completes a class in basic arrhythmia recognition, and maintains competency.
4* Initiates appropriate measure to support patient survivability and maintain functionality during life-threatening events.
5* Communicates patient needs with other care providers in an effective and timely manner.
6 Demonstrates knowledge of chain of command for effective issues resolution at SVMC.
7 Demonstrates ability to care for the Cardiac Cath Lab/Radiology/CT/MRI/US/NM and Interventional patient population by passing the annual unit specific competencies.
8* Demonstrates ability to perform all functions in the Cardiac Cath Lab/Interventional Radiology department including pre/post procedures and intraoperative.
9* Obtains authorization for procedure per Physician order and performs pre procedure patient assessments.
10* Selects, operates and maintains equipment as directed and provides patient protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards.
11* Assist in instruction of Registered Nurse Students in respective areas.
12* Responsible for delegated areas in the assignment of routine procedures.
13* May assist in the development of examination routines and techniques.
14* Maintains adequate records as directed and is responsible for maintaining a clean and neat work area.
15* Performs basic equipment function checks at the beginning of each shift.
16* Follows AIDET
17* Accepts reassignments and additional duties, when necessary, in a flexible and positive manner.
