The Registered Nurse (RN) will work under the supervision of the Nurse Manager/Clinical Coordinator. You will assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and supervise individual patient care on our nursing unit/department, adhering to unit policies and procedures. In this role, you will also supervise non-RN personnel and may assume the charge nurse role, delegating and supervising unit activities. Flexibility to work across different nursing units as needed is essential.
Responsibilities
• Continuously assess the patient's physical and psychosocial condition throughout their care journey.
• Collaboratively develop and document a personalized care plan that addresses individual patient needs, engaging patients, families, and the healthcare team in the process.
• Effectively implement and coordinate this care plan with the healthcare team.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of the care plan, respond to the patient's needs, and update the plan as necessary, including making referrals when appropriate.
• Plan and provide education based on the individual learning needs of the patient and family, documenting outcomes of these educational opportunities.
• Serve as a preceptor to new staff members to support their onboarding and development.
• Occasionally function as a charge nurse to oversee unit activities.
• Meet performance expectations in areas such as customer service, teamwork, resource utilization, and professional development.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to ensure the smooth operation of the department/unit.
• Exhibit competency in the care of neuro patients and demonstrate necessary assessment skills.
• Show proficiency in airway management and care of patients requiring tracheostomy.
• Assist the physician during special neuro procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
• Effectively perform suctioning procedures according to established policies, including pharyngeal, endotracheal, and tracheostomy suctioning.
• Understand the responsibilities and interventions for patients on ventilators.
Qualifications
Education:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred. Proficient in using computer software, including electronic patient records, and capable of conducting literature searches online relevant to patient care.

Valid State of Connecticut Registered Nurse License.
Special Skills:
BLS Required.
