POSITION SUMMARY: This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Director of Health Care provides and manages the day-to-day nursing services for accredited respite, day and overnight camps for youth and adults with developmental disabilities. This position is responsible for reviewing health history and current medical needs of registered campers; Responsible for safe intake, dispensation, and recording of medications; Provides basic first aid and assessments to campers and camp staff as needed; Responsible for hiring, training, and supervising nursing students and part-time nurses. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Nursing Services and Management Functions • Review camper registration health forms for completeness and follow up as necessary • Provide and direct year-round nursing services to campers. • Perform routine monitoring and assessment of camper health needs. • Ensure health-related services and interventions are provided and documented for campers. Safety Functions • Promote a clean, safe work environment and ensure an adequate supply of necessary nursing supplies and functioning equipment is available. • Contribute to a safe and secure environment for campers, staff, and visitors by promptly identifying and remediating issues. • Complete and review incident reports with timely follow-up and resolution. • Assure nursing service and camper documentation is organized, complete, and compliant with regulations and policy/procedures. Professionalism and Communication Functions • Uphold and promote the mission of YMCA and the value of camp services. • Interact with patients and their families/representatives in a professional and customer service-oriented manner. • Maintain and foster positive relationships with parents, caregivers, and community partners. • Communicates professionally and effectively to enhance productivity, teamwork, and maintaining positive relationships with others. General Functions • Hire, train, and supervise other nursing/healthcare staff as needed. • Other duties as assigned ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS | ABUSE PREVENTION: Upholding the YMCA's commitment to the safety and well-being of youth in our programs is a core responsibility of all staff regardless of position. • Attend required abuse risk management training. • Screen employees and volunteers for abuse risk according to policies and procedures. • Train, supervise, and require adherence of employees and volunteers to policies and procedures related to abuse risk. • Provide employees and volunteers with regular feedback about boundaries with consumers. • Respond quickly to policy and procedure violations. • Respond quickly and seriously to all reports of suspicious and inappropriate behaviors. • Communicate the YMCA's commitment to abuse prevention. • Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements. RESIDENCY OPTION This position may be eligible to include an on-site single-family private residence at no cost to the staff member. If housing is provided, camp will provide living quarters within the scope of our housing policy (copy available upon request). The On-Site Staff Housing Agreement will be signed before moving in and always adhered to. QUALIFICATIONS: • Valid and unencumbered Ohio Board of Nursing License (Registered Nurse) • Current BLS (CPR) certification • Current driver's license, acceptable BMV record, and vehicle insurance • Must have 3-5 years of experience working with children • Must be 21 years of age • Must have excellent problem solving, organizational, and mature interpersonal skills • Ability to work independently and within a team environment • Flexible scheduling with the ability to work evenings and weekends • YMCA Team Leader Certification preferred (or obtain within 18 months) WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. • This job involves sitting and standing for long periods as well as stooping, squatting, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and climbing • Must be able to physically assist a camper and be able to lift up to 50lbs independently • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; but can occasionally be loud • Tasks that involve exposure to blood, bodily fluids or tissues • Ability to do computer work for extended periods of time • Indoor and outdoor work required
