Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Night, 3x12-hour shifts per week (6:45 PM - 7:15 AM), typically 36 hours/week; manager schedules with every-other-weekend requirement; orientation includes a 12-hour unit orientation
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $53 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
• Provide high-quality MS/Telemetry nursing care for adult patients boarding in the ED holding area
• Continuously monitor telemetry and interpret dysrhythmias, initiating appropriate interventions
• Manage dysrhythmias and participate in Rapid Response/Code teams as needed to protect patient safety
• Administer blood products, IV medications and titratable infusions following protocols such as heparin and insulin
• Perform peripheral line care, PICC management, central line blood draws and phlebotomy with competence
• Deliver respiratory support including CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC and non-invasive airway management; assist with chest tube care
• Provide tracheostomy care and oral suctioning for complex airway patients
• Document accurately in Epic and use Pyxis for medication administration while communicating via SBAR
• Float to ED and MedSurg areas as needed and adjust to changing patient acuity in a fast-paced environment
• Participate in facility emergency response plans, including Storm/Hurricane or mass casualty assignments
Qualifications
• Valid RN license for the state of North Carolina (active and in good standing)
• Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience with MS/Telemetry or PCU/Stepdown exposure
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start for this specialty
• Comfort and proficiency with Epic charting and Pyxis medication systems
• Experience with telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and rapid response workflow
• Ability to float between ED holding, MedSurg and PCU level patients and work nights reliably
Knowledge & Skills
• Telemetry monitoring and remote telemetry systems
• Interpretation and management of cardiac dysrhythmias
• Peripheral and central line care, PICC line management, phlebotomy
• Blood product administration and titratable infusion protocols
• Airway support skills: CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, tracheostomy care and suctioning
• Arterial blood gas interpretation and oxygen therapy modalities
• Familiarity with Epic, Pyxis and SBAR communication
• Ability to work in a high-turnover, fast-paced ED inpatient holding environment with complex adult patients
