The Emergency Department Observation unit at St. Anthony Hospital, a Magnet designated hospital, is a 16?bed department seeing more than 300 patients a month. The unit observes patients who need additional testing or monitoring beyond what the ED can provide, with chest pain and abdominal pain as the top two diagnoses. We accept patients from surrounding free?standing EDs and may take overflow from other departments. Patients requiring more than 24?48 hours of care are transferred to an inpatient unit. Our mission is to deliver safe, quality care to every patient in a timely manner. This fast?paced department offers a great environment to solidify your med/surg skills, develop excellent time management, and gain exposure to a range of disease processes. You will work alongside a mid?level provider (PA or NP) with every patient. We value candidates who are open, ask questions, are flexible with schedules, and are fast learners. Nurses here must be adaptable to change and ready to work hard in a busy unit. As a Registered Nurse (RN) you will assume responsibility and accountability for: • Facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with the healthcare team and the patient/family to identify and meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient. • Promoting optimal health, well?being, and safety of the patient through the nursing process and in accordance with patient care standards, guidelines and the State Nurse Practice Act. • Demonstrating personal accountability for relationship?based care, organizational mission, and core values. Job Requirements Education Requirements • Associates Degree in Nursing required; Nursing Diploma or by endorsement acceptable. • Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred. • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required for new graduates, preferred for experienced RNs. Experience Requirements • One year of RN experience. • Clinical nursing skills and knowledge base specific to the specialty. Licenses/Certification Requirements • RN License required; Current state nursing licenses or a valid RN license from a participating state in the National Licensure Compact accepted. Physical Requirements • Medium Work capable of exerting up to 50?lbs force occasionally, up to 20?lbs frequently, and/or up to 10?lbs constantly.
