Job Description
Department Emergency Care Center Job Summary Provides professional nursing care to patients and families in an acute clinical care environment, guided by the SMHCS nursing professional practice model and in accordance with the ANA's Standards of Professional Practice. Required Qualifications Require graduate of an accredited school of nursing or a diploma program. For new hires after 2012, Bachelor of Science Degree in nursing (BSN) is required within specified timeframe as outlined in the New Hire BSN Agreement policy (126.045). Require basic working knowledge of commonly used computer applications. Require a minimum of one (1) year of emergency RN experience. Require the follow certifications upon completion of department orientation: Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) National Institute of Health (NIH) Stroke PSA/ACE (during orientation) or Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Crisis Intervention. Require the following courses/certifications within one (1) year of completing department orientation: Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC). Note: All certifications must be maintained thereafter. Preferred Qualifications Prefer certification in nursing specialty area. Preferred Education BSN: Bachelor of Science Nursing Required License and Certs ACLS: Advanced Cardiac Life Support BLS: Basic Life Support/CPR FL RN: FL Registered Nurse License Preferred License and Certs Prefer certification in nursing specialty area.
