Roles & Responsibilities
• Provide high-quality emergency nursing care in a 19-bed Critical Access Hospital emergency department
• Rapidly assess and triage patients, prioritizing care based on clinical need
• Stabilize and manage acute medical and trauma patients using evidence-based interventions
• Administer medications, start and manage IV therapies, and perform urgent nursing procedures
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and support staff to coordinate patient care
• Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and promptly in the medical record
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and follow-up plans with compassion and clarity
• Participate in quality improvement and safety initiatives to improve emergency department outcomes
Qualifications
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Montana or eligibility for Montana licensure (compact license accepted if applicable)
• Minimum emergency nursing experience preferred (recent ER experience a strong plus)
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) required; ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) and PALS preferred
• Ability to pass facility-required onboarding, background check, and health screenings
• Strong clinical assessment, prioritization, and critical thinking skills
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a small, collaborative team
Education
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN). BSN preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
• Solid knowledge of emergency nursing principles, triage, and acute care interventions
• Comfort managing cardiac, respiratory, trauma, and urgent medical presentations
• IV therapy, medication administration, and basic procedural skills
• Familiarity with electronic health records and timely, accurate documentation
• Ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure while providing compassionate care
• Teamwork, adaptability, and good communication with patients, families, and colleagues
