Prairie Lakes Healthcare System is an independent, non-profit rural healthcare system serving 10 counties in northeastern South Dakota and west-central Minnesota. Job Summary Wage: $32.00- $49.46 This part-time( 0.5 status or 20 hours per week) position provides general nursing care for all patients in accordance with established standards, policies, procedures, licensure, and scope of practice of the RN in the Emergency Room. Responsibilities include: • Completes admission/triage interview and assessment and establishes nursing priorities. • Utilizes the nursing process in providing care and includes the process in documentation, identifying unusual conditions, and utilizing initiative and judgment to carry out appropriate response. • Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques. • Assesses patient, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisor or Physician of patient's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents throughout the progression of care. • Initiates a patient education plan according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by Physician and/or hospital policy including patient and family instruction. • Answers phone calls and provides direction and information to patients as appropriate. • Performs tasks such as transporting, logging, entering changes, cleaning patient rooms, restocking supplies, cleaning instruments, and assuring general department cleanliness in absence or conjunction with Care Technician. • Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Graduate of an approved Registered Nurse Program. Minimum of one-year experience as a RN preferred. Holds or is eligible for current licensure in the State of South Dakota.
