The E3 unit features a combined telemetry and Progressive Care Unit with 25 beds, staffed by skilled nursing and healthcare professionals. Our team excels in critical thinking and specialty training, providing top-tier care for complex stroke, vascular, neurological, and surgery patients. JOB SUMMARY

Demonstrate clinical competence using the nursing process while building a synergistic nurse-patient relationship. Assess and identify patient needs, create a care plan, implement treatments, and evaluate care provided.

Qualifications
• Graduate of a school of Nursing; BSN preferred.
• One (1) year RN experience or successful completion of the Backus Hospital Nurse Residency Program; preferred two (2) years of experience in this clinical area.
• Current unrestricted nursing license in good standing for the State of Connecticut.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire.
• Ability to obtain and maintain ACLS and PALS certifications within 90 days of hire.
• Must pass the dysrhythmia test within 3 months of hire.
• Must achieve a score of 80% on the BKAT or complete a critical care course within one (1) year of hire.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain department-specific certifications; PCCN or CCRN preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Basic understanding of nursing principles and practices. Ability to read and interpret oral and written instructions. Strong communication skills to provide effective technical or complex information. Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with colleagues, medical professionals, and patients. Adaptability to prioritize tasks, remain flexible, and collaborate as a team player. Capability to perform in a high-stress environment with a commitment to customer service. Basic computer skills required for data entry and retrieval.

High-level analytical skills needed to interpret information from different sources and respond appropriately to changes, challenges, and emergencies. Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
