
Registered Nurse ER | Edgewood, New Mexico in Barton, NM
Job Description
Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A challenging opportunity is available for experienced Registered Nurses specializing in Emergency Room care. This role is ideal for healthcare professionals seeking to contribute to a Level I Trauma Center and teaching hospital environment while providing critical care in a fast-paced Emergency Department.
Location:
Positioned in Edgewood, NM, the hospital serves a diverse patient population including pediatric and adult trauma cases. The facility offers an advanced clinical setting with 554 staffed beds, no parking fees, and uses Cerner for charting. The hospital is recognized for its commitment to excellence in trauma and pediatric emergency services.
Responsibilities:
• Administer medications, including IV drugs, following the seven medication rights protocol
• Assess, document, and communicate clinical findings effectively
• Provide care in a high-acuity Emergency Department with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:5
• Float within scope to Pediatric Emergency or Adult PCUs as needed; occasional floating to ED Holding and Trauma units based on staffing
• Work night shifts, specifically 3 consecutive 12-hour shifts from 7 PM to 7:30 AM
• Manage admitted patients held in the Emergency Department, supporting a complex care environment
Qualifications:
• Registered Nurse licensure with New Mexico license able to be pending at submission
• Minimum of 2 years Emergency Department experience; Level I Trauma experience strongly preferred
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC (TNCC must be completed before submission), NIH (can pend until compliance deadline)
• COVID-19 vaccination mandatory; religious and medical exemptions accepted with signed exemption form
• No local applicants within a 75-mile radius considered
• Experience with Level I trauma and travel nursing strongly preferred but first-time travelers with 2+ years Level I trauma experience may be considered
Schedule and Contract Details:
• Contract position with guaranteed hours of 36, 40, or 48 per week
• Facility allows up to three call-offs over a 13-week assignment
• Weekend work required, including weekend days (Saturday and Sunday) and nights (Friday through Sunday)
• Overtime available after 48 hours worked per week, effective for contracts signed after October 30, 2025
