This contract opportunity is for an experienced Emergency Department Nurse with supervisory skills to support a 10-bed ED in a community hospital setting located in Springfield, VT. This role requires strong leadership abilities, critical thinking, and excellent communication skills to manage a fast-paced environment with a typical patient census of 8-15 per 24-hour period. Supervisory experience is essential as "straight" ED traveler applicants without leadership background will not be considered. Key Responsibilities: • Oversee daily ED operations ensuring smooth workflow and patient care delivery. • Perform comprehensive health histories and physical assessments. • Prioritize patient needs swiftly in a dynamic setting. • Collaborate with physician assistants and multidisciplinary teams. • Manage challenging patient behaviors with professionalism and compassion. • Maintain detailed documentation and assist in staff coordination. • Adhere to protocols while demonstrating flexibility to adapt quickly. Desired Qualifications: • Valid RN license with Emergency Department experience. • Proven supervisory experience in emergency nursing. • Ability to make sharp, timely clinical decisions. • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team. • Possess a reliable vehicle as public transportation is unavailable. Location Overview: Springfield, VT is a small community known for its close-knit environment and natural surroundings. The hospital serves patients of all ages, providing care in a welcoming and supportive setting. Due to limited public transit, personal transportation is necessary. This position includes an 8-hour non-billable orientation period. Note that requested time off must be submitted and approved at the time of application; no more than 5 days will be accepted and late requests will not be approved. Local candidates living within 50 miles are not eligible. Compensation includes call-back, holiday, and overtime differentials.
