Job Summary and Qualifications

Shift: 5:30 am - 3:00 pm

Call: 1-2 call shifts every 6 weeks; must live within 30 minutes of the facility for call-backs.

Provide leadership facilitating professional nursing care aimed at patient comfort and well-being. Use the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation while overseeing patient care and education.

What you will do in this role:
• Evaluate patients before surgery.
• Provide education to patients and families on procedures and peri-operative processes.
• Manage patient preparation, including IV therapy and preoperative medications.
• Engage in surgical site verification, including briefing and time out protocols.
• React promptly to patient emergencies.
• Deliver exceptional patient-centered care while implementing evidence-based practices.
• Collaborate with a dynamic interdisciplinary team including surgeons and surgical technologists.
• Employ critical thinking and technical skills to ensure safe nursing care.
• Monitor patient conditions and document changes thoroughly.
• Educate patients and caregivers on medical conditions and treatment plans.

Qualifications:
• Required Experience: Minimum one year as an RN.
• Preferred Experience: Background in Pre/Post Op or Critical Care.
• Required Education: BSN or enrollment in a BSN program with completion within 5 years of hire.
• Preferred Education: Master’s in Nursing.
• Required License: Current RN licensure with the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
• Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
• Preferred Certification: National certification in a specialty area.
