Description Job Summary: The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure medical services are adequately provided for the student population. The Registered Nurse should be acutely aware of the Dove Vocational Trauma Informed Practices and engage both staff and youth through the lens of trauma. Essential responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:Essential Functions:1. Screen student complaints of illness / medical concerns and provide appropriate nursing care as outlined in policy. 2. Upon admission, shall screen students for health related conditions as outlined in policy.3. When feasible shall participate in treatment team meetings and multi – disciplinary case staffing as needed. 4. Orders and maintains adequate supply of medication as outlined in policy.5. Effectively communicate student medical issues and /or concerns with the Designated Medical Authority.6. Conduct “Sick Call” and coordinate doctor’s appointments, physicals and other necessary medical services as needed.7. Maintain student’s medical files in accordance to DJJ standards.8. Monitor and maintain the Medication Administration Records “MARs”.9. Conducts periodic healthcare emergency disaster preparedness drills.10. Inspects and stocks First Aid kits on a monthly basis.11. Maintains proper documentation in student’s medical files. 12. Shall actively participate in the implementation of Quality Improvement revisions.13. Effectively communicates medical information and concerns with other employees. 14. Works diligently with the student to meet identified performance goals. 15. Will drive Dove / Twin Oaks vehicles as required in accordance with the DJJ Policy.16. If needed, will provide emergency First Aid and CPR in accordance with American Red Cross Standards.17. Attends and participates in all required meetings and trainings. 18. Adheres to all program policy and procedures relevant to this Job Description. 19. Shall ensure that all students receive recommended vaccinations in accordance to national standards. 20. Shall follow, monitor and update the medical alert process as outlined in program policy.21. Shall provide health education to staff and student population on a monthly basis. 22. Shall maintain a “Health Education Record” in each student’s medical file and update as needed.24. Assumes other duties and responsibilities as directed or needed for efficient operations of the program.Requirements Registered Nurse credentials in the state of Florida requiredCertification in CPR, First Aid by a nationally recognized organization (Red Cross, AHA).Current state driver’s license (CDL may be required).Registered Nurse Degree from an accredited college / university Meet criminal background check and drug screening per state requirements.
