E3, our combined telemetry and Progressive Care Unit, features 25 beds staffed by a dedicated team of nursing and healthcare professionals proficient in critical thinking and specialized care. We focus on complex stroke, vascular, neurological, and specialty surgery patients, along with providing intermediate care. Job Summary
As a Registered Nurse, you will use your clinical expertise in a synergistic nurse-patient relationship. You will assess and identify patient needs, create and implement care plans, and evaluate patient outcomes to ensure the highest standard of care.
Qualifications
• Graduate of a nursing program; BSN preferred.
• One (1) year of RN experience or successful completion of the Backus Hospital Nurse Residency Program; two (2) or more years preferred.
• Current unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Connecticut.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire.
• Ability to obtain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications within 90 days of hire.
• Must pass the dysrhythmia test within 3 months of hire.
• Ability to pass the BKAT with a score of 80% or complete a critical care course within one (1) year of hire.
• Ability to maintain department-specific certifications; Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN) or Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Possess a foundational knowledge of nursing principles and practices. Strong communication skills are necessary to convey complex information and instructions effectively. You will need excellent interpersonal abilities to interact with patients, their families, and multidisciplinary teams. The role requires multitasking and a flexible approach to work, thriving in a dynamic and sometimes stressful environment. A commitment to exemplary customer service and basic computer skills are essential.
You will play a crucial role in analyzing data from various sources, taking appropriate actions during emergencies, and maintaining confidentiality at all times.
