Summary
Working within the Yale New Haven Health System (YNHHS), the RN plays a critical role in upholding our mission and ensuring the highest level of patient-centered care. You will operate within the legal and ethical frameworks established by the Connecticut Nurse Practice Act, and professional standards. Your Responsibilities Will Include:
• Building therapeutic relationships with patients and families, incorporating an understanding of cultural and diversity practices.
• Collaborating with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive care.
• Respecting patients' values, preferences, and expressed needs while gathering holistic data.
Standards of Practice
Your nursing practice will be guided by the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice. This includes:
• Assessment: Collecting pertinent data related to the patient's health.
• Diagnosis: Analyzing data to identify actual and potential issues.
• Outcomes Identification: Defining expected outcomes tailored to patient needs.
• Planning: Developing and modifying a personalized care plan.
• Implementation: Executing the care plan effectively.
• Coordination of Care: Facilitating care delivery during transitions.
• Health Promotion: Promoting health and safety through education.
• Evaluation: Assessing progress towards outcomes.
Qualifications
Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing school, with a BSN preferred. All new hires must have current Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification or obtain it within one month of hire.
Experience: All RNs are encouraged to advance through the SPIRE clinical advancement program, as this role serves as the foundation for nursing practice.
Licensure/Certification: Must be a licensed and currently registered nurse in the State of Connecticut. Clinical specialty certification is highly encouraged.
