
Registered Nurse I - Cardiac Catheterization - Full Time in Starks, LA
Job Description
Join our dynamic team as a Registered Nurse I in the Cardiac Catheterization department. You will be responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care through patient assessment, care planning, and quality service for a diverse group of patients, including older adolescents, young adults, adults, geriatric, and pediatric patients. This role also provides supervision and guidance to LVNs, nursing assistants, unit secretaries, and other clinical or clerical associates. At times, you may take on the responsibilities of a charge nurse for the unit.

• Patient Care Planning:
• Develop a comprehensive nursing care plan to address all significant needs identified through assessment.
• Prepare nursing elements for interdisciplinary care plans ahead of initial team conferences.
• Review and update care plans in collaboration with team members as necessary.
• Patient Care Provision:
• Implement care as per the nursing care and interdisciplinary plans.
• Set priorities based on patient acuity and needs.
• Ensure safe and therapeutic care is provided and seek resources as needed.
• Accurately document procedures following established nursing policies.
• Patient Care Evaluation:
• Evaluate patient responses to interventions and progress toward goals with the interdisciplinary team.
• Revise goals weekly as necessary and complete daily nursing progress notes and flow sheets.
• Teaching:
• Assess and document education needs of patients and their families.
• Adapt teaching resources to fit patient education needs and explain procedures/tests as necessary.
• Serve as a role model and preceptor for health care students and new staff.
• Patient Care Communication:
• Accurately report and document patient conditions, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
• Encourage open communication among team members and assist in resolving differences.
• Identify and report unsafe practices, proposing alternatives as needed.
Job Requirements:
• Education/Skills:
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
• All newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days.
• Initial onboarding will involve being precepted by a trained staff member and successful completion of competency validations.
• Experience:
• Six months to one year of RN experience is required, with a preference for those with Critical Care experience.
• Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:
• BLS required.
• RN License in the state of employment or compact.
• ACLS certification is required, with a grace period of 30 days for experienced associates and 90 days for new graduates.
