Summary:
Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Registered Nurse I in our Nurse Residency Program! You will be integral in assessing patients, creating comprehensive care plans, and delivering exceptional nursing care to a diverse group of patients ranging from older adolescents to geriatrics. You will also play a key role in supervising LVNs, nursing assistants, and other support staff, while potentially taking on charge nurse responsibilities within your unit.

Responsibilities:
• Demonstrate leadership qualities in alignment with OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Patient Care Planning:
• Develop a comprehensive nursing care plan addressing significant patient needs identified through assessment.
• Prepare nursing components for the interdisciplinary care plan prior to team meetings.
• Continuously review and update care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
• Patient Care Provision:
• Implement nursing actions outlined in care plans, prioritizing based on patient acuity.
• Deliver safe, therapeutic care while seeking resources as necessary.
• Perform and document nursing procedures accurately in accordance with established policies.
• Patient Care Evaluation:
• Assess patient responses to interventions and collaborate with the team to evaluate goal attainment.
• Revise nursing goals weekly as needed, documenting progress in patient records.
• Teaching:
• Identify and evaluate the educational needs of patients and their families, documenting their learning responses.
• Create and adapt teaching materials to meet specific patient education requirements.
• Provide clear explanations of procedures, tests, and disease processes.
• Act as a role model for healthcare students and precept new nursing staff.
• Patient Care Communication:
• Accurately report and document patient conditions to relevant team members while maintaining confidentiality.
• Foster open communication among care team members and patients.
• Encourage constructive feedback to improve care processes and address safety concerns.

Job Requirements:
• Education/Skills: Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.
• Experience: 6 months to 1 year as a licensed RN or hold an active GN permit.
• Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:
• BLS certification is required.
• Must hold a valid RN License in the state of employment or a compact state.
• Graduate Nurse Permit: If the licensure application is unsuccessful, you will be transitioned to another position within CHRISTUS Health after the 75th day following the temporary permit's effective date.
