Job Description
Registered Nurse - CVICU night shift Hours per Week: 36 Roles & Responsibilities • Provide expert, compassionate care to adult cardiac surgery and CVICU/CVRU patients • Monitor and interpret hemodynamics and manage invasive lines and advanced devices • Safely manage and assist with ECMO, IABP, Impella and LVAD-supported patients in collaboration with specialized teams • Perform and assist with intubation/extubation and complex airway management when needed • Remove chest tubes and pacer wires per unit protocols and support rapid recovery • Document accurate patient assessments and care plans in Cerner EMR • Communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team and support patient/family education • Actively participate in unit safety practices, following guidelines and escalating concerns Qualifications • Active RN license in North Carolina (compact license acceptable if valid) • BLS and ACLS required • Minimum 2 years of recent CVICU or CVRU experience (required) • Critical care training or equivalent experience in cardiac surgical care • Comfortable with high-acuity cardiac patients and a high-energy, upbeat personality • Preferred: Certification in Critical Care, Cardiac Surgery, or Recovery Room care • Willingness to float to other ICUs/Stepdown areas as needed Education • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required • Current RN license and required certifications (BLS/ACLS) Knowledge & Skills • Strong knowledge of hemodynamics and cardiac physiology • Experience with ECMO, IABP, Impella and LVAD care (team-supported) • Comfortable with intubation/extubation procedures and advanced airway care • Skilled in chest tube and pacer wire management/removal • Proficient with Cerner electronic medical records and GE patient monitors • Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment and collaborate with specialty teams Benefits • Supportive orientation with a dedicated educator to help you hit the ground running • Licensure assistance and reimbursement to keep your credentials current • Medical, dental and vision options to keep you and your family healthy • Paid time off so you can recharge between lifesaving shifts • Travel reimbursement and housing support tailored for contract travelers • 401(k) retirement savings plan to help you plan for the future • Professional development and certification support for advanced cardiac skills • A collaborative, high-energy team that truly values your expertise
