Registered Nurse - ICU Float Position in Ansonia, CT

As a Registered Nurse in our ICU Float Unit, you will play a critical role in delivering exceptional patient care within a collaborative environment. As a vital member of our nursing team, you will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients according to established policies and procedures. You will supervise non-RN personnel and delegate unit activities as needed, ensuring high standards of service delivery. Responsibilities • Continuously assess the physical and psychosocial condition of patients throughout their care journey. • Develop, communicate, and document individualized care plans involving patients, families, and the healthcare team to achieve optimal outcomes. • Implement and coordinate care plans effectively in collaboration with the healthcare team. • Evaluate the effectiveness of care plans and make necessary adjustments, including referrals when indicated. • Assess learning needs and readiness of patients and families, providing educational opportunities and documenting outcomes. • Act as a preceptor for new staff, fostering their professional growth. • Serve in the role of Charge Nurse as needed. • Meet performance expectations related to customer service, teamwork, resource utilization, and personal development as detailed in performance reviews. • Carry out additional duties as assigned to ensure smooth unit operations. • Demonstrate competency in caring for neuro patients, including assessments and airway management. • Assist with procedures and provide care for patients with tracheostomies and utilize equipment necessary for those in halo braces. • Exhibit understanding and skills related to ventilator management and special neuro procedures. Qualifications Education: Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing; BSN preferred. Proficiency in electronic patient records and internet research for patient care literature is essential. Experience: 1 Year of acute nursing experience required. Critical care or emergency experience is preferred. Licensure: A valid Registered Nurse License in the State of Connecticut is required. Special Skills: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory.
