Job Description
The iFlex RN is part of Intermountain’s internal travel agency for assignments. This is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care of patients. This RN utilizes the nursing process by use of technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence-based practice and coordination of care with other health team members. Our iFlex RNs are expected to float if not needed at assigned facility.

Intermountain Health’s iFlex Internal Travel Agency is now hiring for a Registered Nurse – Pediatric Specialty position at the new Primary Children’s Hospital. Primary Children's Hospital is the only Level I Pediatric Trauma Center in a five-state region. Our facility includes a 32-bed PICU, 16-bed CICU, 28-bed Neuro Trauma Unit, and a 50-bed Level IV NICU. With over 1,500 neonatal and pediatric transports each year, our hospital is recognized for its commitment to excellence in pediatric care.
About the iFlex RN Role: Pediatric Cardiac Care
As an iFlex RN, you'll be part of Intermountain Health’s internal travel agency, supporting high-priority pediatric cardiac care needs primarily at the Salt Lake City Campus. This role demands pediatric expertise, adaptability, and a deep commitment to delivering compassionate, family-centered care to children across a range of specialties.
Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver specialized pediatric nursing care across medical, surgical, or critical care units
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create and implement individualized care plans
• Provide education and emotional support to pediatric patients and their families
• Accurately monitor, assess, and document patient conditions and responses
• Ensure a safe, healing environment for children at every stage of treatment
Minimum Qualifications:
• 2 years of recent pediatric acute RN experience
• Current RN license in the state of Utah
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for Healthcare Providers
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification
• Specialty certifications (e.g., CPN, CCRN) encouraged
Compensation and Benefits:
• Competitive pay in line with local and national travel RN rates
• Pay rates are reviewed quarterly and adjusted based on market trends; each assignment will have a consistent pay rate
• For assignments more than 50 miles from the employee's home, pro-rated monthly housing reimbursement will be provided
• Employees are responsible for securing their own housing during each travel assignment
Posting Specifics:
• Shift Details: Variable shifts
• Schedule: Full-time hours during a 3-month assignment; 2–3 assignments per calendar year required
• Pay Rate: $68–$75/hour flat rate, based on location and specialty (adjusted quarterly)
Travel Requirements:
• Expected to fill shifts at Primary Children’s Hospital. Must be willing to float throughout Primary Children's Hospital and to Primary Children's Lehi.
• All iFlex employees will be expected to travel and be able to work at Intermountain sites.
Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.

Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.

Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.

Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.

Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.).

May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period.
