As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will work under the guidance of the Nurse Manager/Clinical Coordinator to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and supervise patient care within a nursing unit. Your responsibilities also include supervising non-RN personnel and, during charge shifts, delegating and overseeing unit activities. Flexibility in working across different nursing units may be required to accommodate staff and patient distribution.
Responsibilities
• Continuously assess patients' physical and psychosocial conditions throughout the care continuum.
• Develop, communicate, and document individualized care plans, involving the patient, their family, and the healthcare team in the process.
• Implement and coordinate the care plan collaboratively with the healthcare team.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of the care plan, assess patient responses, and readiness for discharge while revising the plan as necessary.
• Assess patients' learning needs and readiness, providing educational resources and documenting outcomes.
• Act as a preceptor for new staff members.
• Perform duties as Charge Nurse when required.
• Meet performance expectations regarding customer service, teamwork, resource utilization, and personal development.
• Perform additional duties as directed to ensure the smooth operation of the unit.
• Exhibit competency in caring for neuro patients alongside relevant assessments and interventions.
• Skillfully manage airway procedures for neuro patients.
• Care for patients with tracheostomies and assist physicians during special neuro procedures.
• Participate in our 'TIA' teaching program to educate patients effectively.
• Conduct suctioning procedures as per established guidelines.
• Handle equipment and patient care for those in halo braces expertly.
• Demonstrate nursing responsibilities and interventions for ventilated patients capably.
Qualifications
Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing school; BSN preferred, with proficiency in electronic patient records and internet-based literature searches regarding patient care.
Experience: N/A
Licensure: Valid Registered Nurse License in the State of Connecticut.
Special Skills: BLS certification required.
