Position Overview:
As a Registered Nurse in Maternity Services, you will report to the Clinical Nurse Manager and utilize the nursing process to deliver exceptional patient-centered care. Collaborate with a dynamic interdisciplinary team, communicate effectively about patient conditions, and respond promptly to changes. Your expertise in providing age-appropriate care across the lifespan will be essential in fostering positive experiences for families.
Qualifications:
• Graduation from an accredited school of Nursing.
• Current licensure in Connecticut.
• Previous Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) experience preferred.
• ACLS and NRP certification required upon hire or within one year; maintain clinical competency.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support certification to be obtained during introductory orientation or upon hire.
• Electric Fetal Monitoring Certification to be achieved within one year of hire.
Core Competencies:
• Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
• Basic computer proficiency.
Essential Duties:
• Conduct comprehensive assessments of maternal and newborn conditions, including psychosocial and educational needs.
• Utilize pain assessment tools and provide education for pain management to patients and families.
• Develop and update individualized care plans in collaboration with patients and families.
• Administer medications safely following established protocols.
• Provide comprehensive patient care in Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, and for Well Newborns.
• Document nursing processes and patient responses thoroughly.
• Exhibit flexibility and sound judgment in stressful situations.
• Create and implement educational plans tailored to patient and family learning needs.
• Demonstrate autonomous practice aligned with evidence-based standards.
• Maintain competency in fetal monitoring and recognize FHR patterns.
