Full-Time | 0.8 FTE| 8-hour Day Shift

Administration of immunotherapy and chemotherapy treatment, nurse assessments, telephone triage, patient education, coordination of care with other oncology service departments such as Radiation. Works closely with providers, case managers, navigators, social work, support staff, genetic counseling, palliative care, etc within the department. Key nursing skills are multitasking, clear SBAR communication, strong assessment ability and Oncology specific EMR/computer knowledge. Seeing the whole picture and not focusing just on tasks at hand. Having empathy AND sympathy and understanding the difference and different times they're needed with our patient population. Having appropriate customer service skills. Oncology care is more than a day-to-day job, it's creating ongoing professional relationships with people going through some of the hardest times in their lives, as cancer care is a journey.

How you will contribute

A Registered Nurse (RN) who excels in this role:
• Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
• Documents patient care given.
• Monitors, records, and communicate patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

What we are looking for

Applicants should have a state of Michigan RN license and possess an associate degree from an accredited nursing school (bachelor's degree preferred).

Additional requirements include:
• Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP)
• Oncology Nursing Society (ONS)/Chemo (within 1 year)
