As a Registered Nurse in our Inpatient Adolescent Unit, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient-centered care, supporting adolescents through their journey to health and wellness.
Position Summary:
Utilize your nursing expertise to provide high-quality direct and indirect care, coordinate with a strong interdisciplinary team, and respond effectively to changes in patients' conditions. You will create a safe and structured environment that fosters therapeutic relationships and supports adolescents in achieving their health goals.
Qualifications:
• Graduate of an accredited Nursing program with an active Registered Nurse license in Connecticut.
• Trained in de-escalation techniques, with certification obtained during the orientation period.
• Receive RQI certification within three months of hire and maintain clinical competence throughout employment.
Key Competencies:
• Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Ability to take swift action, including patient restraint when necessary.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Conduct comprehensive assessments of patient needs, considering psychosocial, physical, educational, and cultural aspects.
• Utilize pain management tools and educate patients and families about pain control strategies.
• Develop individualized treatment plans, involving patients and families, and assess their effectiveness regularly.
• Apply the seven medication rights and actively prevent medication errors.
• Document all aspects of patient care in a timely manner, utilizing appropriate tools for the nursing process.
• Demonstrate flexibility and organization while functioning effectively under pressure.
• Formulate effective teaching plans based on identified patient learning needs.
• Practice autonomously and pursue professional growth and development.
• Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for all patients.
• Exhibit clinical expertise, empathy, and interpersonal warmth with patients.
• Manage potentially violent situations effectively, consistent with CPI training.
• Participate in early response and PMT refresher trainings.
• Set appropriate limits with patients while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Collaborate with treatment team members to meet patients' needs.
• Provide psychotherapeutic treatment and document interventions accurately.
