Job Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Inpatient Location: Sitka, AK Position Type: Full Time Position Overview The Registered Nurse (RN) – Inpatient provides comprehensive nursing care to patients of all ages in an acute inpatient setting. This role requires strong clinical judgment, the ability to work independently, and accountability for patient outcomes during assigned shifts. The RN collaborates closely with providers, leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver safe, high-quality, patient-centered care in accordance with established standards, policies, and regulatory requirements. Clinical decisions are made independently during the scheduled shift, with escalation to leadership or ancillary departments as needed. The RN is responsible for appropriate delegation and supervision of support staff. Key Responsibilities • Provide total nursing care and supervise assigned support staff to ensure patient safety and quality outcomes • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and implement appropriate nursing interventions • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with interdisciplinary and interdepartmental teams • Assist in developing and maintaining nursing standards, objectives, policies, and procedures • Ensure patient rights, privacy, dignity, and equitable treatment are upheld at all times • Maintain strict adherence to infection control policies and isolation protocols • Respond calmly and effectively to emergent situations and make sound clinical judgments • Delegate and supervise duties of CNAs/Technicians appropriately • Complete accurate documentation related to admissions, discharges, transfers, and daily care • Transcribe and implement provider orders in the electronic medical record • Administer medications and monitor patient responses to treatments • Communicate changes in patient condition promptly to providers • Maintain appropriate inventory levels of medications, supplies, and equipment • Participate in staff meetings, education sessions, and performance improvement activities • Assist in training and mentoring nursing personnel • Maintain confidentiality of all patient-related information • Perform additional duties as assigned to support patient care operations Physical & Work Environment Requirements • Ability to move intermittently throughout the workday • Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, kneel, crouch, and reach as required • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress clinical environment • Emotional stability and ability to work with patients who may be ill, disabled, elderly, or emotionally distressed Education, Certifications & Licensure • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (ADN, BSN, or Diploma) • High School Diploma or equivalent • Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alaska or another U.S. state • Alaska license must be obtained prior to start date (if not already active) • BLS required • ACLS and PALS required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire • TNCC preferred (required for Emergency Department roles) • Completion of required clinical and high-risk competencies within established timelines Experience Requirements • No minimum experience required • Acute care, emergency department, and/or long-term care experience preferred Knowledge & Skills • Strong knowledge of nursing and medical practices • Familiarity with healthcare laws, regulations, and standards • Excellent clinical judgment, assessment, and critical thinking skills • Ability to supervise and collaborate with clinical and non-clinical staff • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Ability to multitask, problem-solve, and work independently • Professional demeanor with patients, families, staff, and external partners Required Certifications • Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – American Heart Association • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – American Heart Association • Active Registered Nurse License – State of Alaska or Compact State For more details reach at jmckenzie@navitashealth.com About Navitas Healthcare, LLC: It is a certified WBENC and one of the fastest-growing healthcare staffing firms in the US providing Medical, Clinical and Non-Clinical services to numerous hospitals.
